WELCOME TO WANDA WADE'S FIRST GRADE WEBPAGE!

First grade is an exciting and important year in your child's school career.  In Reading, they are expected to be reading at least 40 words correctly in one minute by the end of the year.  Therefore, reading and practicing with your child daily is crucial.  We send home a reading bag with decodable books, a poem, and word cards to practice each day.  It is important that these come back to school every day.  We also send home a newsletter with the homework for each day listed.  Spelling and reading tests are every Friday, unless there is no school on that day.  Then it will be on Thursday.  In Math, we will send home a Home Link workbook for you to keep at home.  We will assign a page a week to do with your child and send back to school for reinforcement.  Feel free to do the other pages with your child also.  This will help you to know what is happening in our classes with Math.  We are also required to teach Science and So. Studies this year.  For Health, we are continuing to stress healthy eating with our lunch program as well as exercise on the fitness trail and classroom movement activites.  We will be using an online grading system called Engrade.  We will be sending home your log-in information soon.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school or email me.  (wwade@access.k12.wv.us).
